President Donald Trump publicly sought to restrain Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying nuclear negotiations with Iran are being led by the US.

In an interview, Trump said Netanyahu would have no choice but to accept any agreement reached with Tehran, the Financial Times reported on June 7.

"I make the decisions. I make all the decisions," Trump said. "Netanyahu will have no choice."

The comments came after an April ceasefire was thrown into doubt when Iran fired ballistic missiles toward Israel. In an interview with Fox News, Trump also said he would tell Netanyahu to refrain from retaliating against Iran.

Trump stressed that the latest Iranian attack would not affect negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

"The talks are continuing," he said. "The recent attack will not determine whether a deal is reached."

Still, he sounded more cautious than before about the prospects for an agreement. "We'll have to see what happens," Trump said, signaling that an immediate deal was far from certain.

Trump also suggested further military action remained possible if the negotiations ultimately collapsed. He said unresolved issues could be handled militarily if necessary, though maintaining sanctions on Iran was also an option.

Trump also did not deny reports of a heated call with Netanyahu linked to a recently leaked conversation. Axios previously reported that Trump sharply criticized Israel's military actions and voiced strong dissatisfaction to Netanyahu.
