Strategy Chief Executive Officer Phong Le said the company’s recent sale of a small portion of its Bitcoin holdings was intended to test internal systems, not to address financial difficulties.

Le told CNBC on June 10 that the sale of 32 Bitcoin was largely a test of whether the company’s internal asset-sale process was functioning properly. It was also meant to help coordinate the dividend payment schedule for STRC preferred shares and handle tax-related matters.

Strategy previously sold 32 Bitcoin at an average price of about $77,135. The transaction drew market attention because it appeared to run counter to the company’s long-standing strategy of buying and holding Bitcoin.

Le said the sale was not driven by financial pressure. During the same period, the company bought an additional 1,550 Bitcoin, leaving it a net buyer overall.

He added that a range of macroeconomic variables remain in play, including uncertainty over Federal Reserve interest-rate policy, geopolitical conflict and regulatory risk. Even so, the company’s view remains unchanged that Bitcoin is a strong hedge against inflation and risks tied to government policy.
