Artcube 2R2 said June 17 that it will hold a special exhibition, "Beauty, Sumi Jo's 40 Years, Song of the Four Seasons CONTINUUM," in July to mark the 40th anniversary of soprano Sumi Jo's debut.
The exhibition will present Jo's artistic career over the past 40 years across four floors themed around spring, summer, fall and winter.
Each floor will feature content tied to its concept and to Jo's career. The exhibition will showcase content produced by Arttoken, including materials from Jo's childhood, performance posters, videos from stages around the world, and videos using artificial intelligence technology.
Archive materials including Jo's stage dresses, photographs and medals will also be displayed. Works by Korean contemporary artists including Yun Hyong-keun, Lee Ufan and Kim Whanki are also scheduled to be shown.
Artist talks, docent programs and performances will be held during the exhibition.
A special session featuring Jo herself is set for August.
The exhibition was organized in collaboration with SMI Entertainment, Jo's agency. Director Jung Yu-rim oversaw the exhibition planning.
Hong Ji-sook, chief executive officer of Artcube 2R2, said the exhibition was meaningful as a celebration of the 40th anniversary of Jo's debut. The show will offer visitors a chance to experience music, visual art and digital content together, she added.
