The U.S. House of Representatives will hold a roundtable on June 25 on the role of digital assets and cryptocurrencies in expanding financial freedom and their implications for national security.

William Timmons, chairman of the House Subcommittee on Military and Foreign Affairs, announced the event under the title, "The Double-Edged Coin of Digital Currency: Protecting American Security Against Oppressive Foreign Regimes," according to Odaily on June 20.

Discussions will center on how digital assets and cryptocurrencies can help protect personal wealth and expand access to financial support. Their impact on preserving "economic sovereignty" will also be a main agenda item.

The roundtable will also examine the intersection of digital finance and U.S. national security. Participants plan to review policy directions and ways to promote financial innovation so the U.S. can remain competitive in digital finance.

Attendees are set to include Dustin Palmer, anti-money laundering officer at Anchorage Digital Bank; Jorge Haisatty, head of the Economic Inclusion Group; and Cody Carbone, chief executive officer of the Digital Chamber.
