Five former Ethereum Foundation researchers have launched Ethlabs, a nonprofit research group.
The Block reported on June 23 that Ethlabs announced its launch in a statement the same day. The group said it was created to meet rising institutional demand for stablecoins, real-world asset tokenization, tokenized funds and AI-powered commerce.
Ethlabs said its goal is to advance Ethereum so it can support large-scale demand while maintaining the neutrality, resilience, privacy and security required by institutions.
The organization was co-founded by five former senior researchers from the Ethereum Foundation. Ethlabs described them as technical experts who have led major Ethereum upgrades over the past decade.
Ethlabs also said it has secured backing from major Ethereum-related organizations. Sponsors include Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin, Ethereum treasury management firm BitMine and SharpLink.
