Kalshi Bars India Users as Country Tightens Prediction-Market Rules
Forecast Trend Report by Period

Kalshi has added India to its list of restricted jurisdictions.
Bloomberg reported June 23 that Kalshi, in revised membership terms dated June 17, said residents of India as well as entities and organizations based in the country are barred from trading event contracts.
The move comes as India steps up regulation of prediction-market platforms. Kalshi’s website has been blocked across many internet service providers in India since late May.
India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has previously classified prediction-market platforms including Kalshi and Polymarket as illegal services and moved to block access to them. The Print reported last month that the Indian government was preparing an order to block Kalshi.
In April, the Indian government also sent letters to virtual private network providers warning they could face legal liability if they helped users access blocked prediction-market platforms.
Separately, India began enforcing the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act on May 1 to tighten regulation of online real-money gaming.
