Oman and Iran plan to form a joint consultative body to discuss how navigation through the Strait of Hormuz will be managed in the future.
Walter Bloomberg reported on June 23 that the two countries said they would create a joint team aimed at reaching agreement on the “future management of navigation” in the Strait of Hormuz.
The announcement comes as the U.S. and Iran hold talks on a ceasefire and the normalization of relations. Interest in the strait’s operating framework has also grown after the U.S. and Iran recently moved to pursue a memorandum of understanding, or MOU, that includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
