Summary

  • Loopring said it would immediately halt decentralized exchange (DEX) operations and also shut down its relayer, which processes trades.
  • It said the shutdown was caused by its non-EVM architecture, limited ecosystem expansion, weak business development, and the delisting of LRC by major exchanges in 2026.
  • To protect user assets, Loopring said it would publish final balances and send assets to Ethereum mainnet (L1) addresses for users holding at least $10 in assets, while the company covers all gas fees.

Loopring, an early Ethereum zero-knowledge, or zk-rollup, project, is shutting down its decentralized exchange service.

Wu Blockchain reported on June 28 that Loopring announced the immediate suspension of DEX operations and the shutdown of its relayer, which processes trades.

Loopring said it was one of the first projects to demonstrate that zero-knowledge proofs could improve Ethereum scalability. The company cited its non-EVM architecture, limited ecosystem growth, weak business development and the delisting of LRC by major exchanges in 2026 as reasons for the shutdown.

To protect user assets, the company said it will publish final balances and send funds directly to Ethereum mainnet, or L1, addresses for users holding at least $10 in assets. Loopring will cover all gas fees incurred in the process.
