The Digital Asset eXchange Alliance, or DAXA, and digital-asset policy think tank MRI will jointly hold a seminar on July 15 at 3 p.m. at Hotel Naru Seoul MGallery in Seoul's Mapo district, the groups said on July 10. The event is titled "US Digital-Asset Dominance Strategy and Korea's Response."

The seminar will examine the legislative direction of South Korea's proposed Digital Asset Basic Act and how to design a won-denominated stablecoin framework, as the US moves to institutionalize digital assets through the GENIUS Act and the CLARITY Act.

In the first session, Han Seo-hee, an attorney at Lee & Ko, will speak on the legislative background and policy goals of the GENIUS Act and the CLARITY Act. She is set to outline the US stablecoin regulatory framework, key provisions of the CLARITY Act and implications for Korean legislation.

In the second session, MRI Chief Executive Officer Kim Jong-seung will present on key issues in the debate over won-denominated stablecoins. His session will address central questions in designing the system, including issuance structure, reserve assets, redemption rights and value-maintenance mechanisms.

The final session will feature Democratic Party lawmakers Min Byung-duk and Park Min-kyu, who recently visited the US. They will discuss US digital-asset strategy from their on-the-ground observations, policy trends identified during the trip and the legislative agenda for the second half of the year.

Oh Se-jin, chairman of DAXA, said the need to improve related rules is growing as the convergence of traditional finance and digital-asset markets accelerates. He added that he hopes the seminar will serve as an opportunity to review the US digital-asset strategy and explore ways for Korea to respond.
