Stripe has filed trademark applications in South Korea for Open USD and Open Standard, names tied to its global stablecoin project and alliance.

Digital Asset reported on July 10 that Stripe submitted applications for the "OPEN USD" and "OPEN STANDARD" trademarks on June 30.

Open Standard is a global stablecoin payments alliance led by Stripe. Open USD, or OUSD, is the stablecoin used by the group. The alliance has 149 partners, including Visa, Mastercard and BlackRock.

The goods and services covered by the Open Standard filing include compliance frameworks for electronic payment transactions conducted through global computer networks and virtual assets, electronic funds transfer services for transferring digital currencies among consortium participants, and blockchain-based user authentication services supporting virtual-asset transactions across networks.
