US Central Command said in a post on its official X account on July 12 that it had completed a new offensive operation against Iran. The command said it carried out precision strikes on dozens of targets in multiple locations to degrade Iran’s ability to keep attacking international maritime traffic passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
The targets included Iran’s air defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone forces, and small boats. The US military deployed fighter jets, naval vessels, loitering aerial drones and loitering maritime drones, and said the maritime drones were used in the operation for the first time.
