Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi reaffirmed plans to step up government support for startups and the Web3 industry.

In a video message to the WebX 2026 event, Takaichi said Japan will strengthen support for startups by expanding funding through government-backed funds and financial institutions and by easing regulations, Wu Blockchain reported on July 13.

She added that the government's support policies, together with WebX, can help advance Japan's Web3 innovation ecosystem.

WebX is Japan's largest Web3 and blockchain conference, drawing global blockchain companies, investors and policy officials. Japan's government has recently expanded regulatory reforms and industry support as it seeks to foster the Web3 and digital-asset sectors as future growth drivers.
