Jupiter, the Solana-based decentralized exchange, has launched a service that allows users to trade physical Pokemon and One Piece trading cards on-chain.

The Block reported on July 13 that Jupiter unveiled the beta version of its Jupiter Gacha service.

Users who buy random packs receive authenticated physical Pokemon or One Piece trading cards. Each card is verified for authenticity, sealed in a plastic slab and paired with an on-chain token that can be traded freely on Jupiter's DEX.

Jupiter said collectors can now trade graded cards they collected as children on-chain.

Tokenizing physical Pokemon cards is not new. But Jupiter's move into the market could boost its credibility and mainstream appeal because the platform is Solana's flagship DEX, The Block reported.

The Block also pointed to Securitize's recent partnership with Jupiter on a Solana-based tokenized stock venture, saying the new service is part of the broader expansion of real-world asset tokenization.

The market is also raising the possibility that on-chain trading could spread from Pokemon cards to other physical collectibles, including sports cards, luxury watches and other high-end goods.

Collector Crypt and Courtyard already operate tokenized Pokemon card services, and trading volume rose sharply after the Pokemon franchise's 30th anniversary in May.

Adam Hollander, OpenSea's chief marketing officer, said in a recent interview with The Block that tokenized Pokemon cards could breathe new life into the non-fungible token market, which has been subdued since 2021 and 2022.
