Lummis Says Clarity Act Must Not Be Written to Target Trump
Forecast Trend Report by Period

Sen. Cynthia Lummis said the Clarity Act, a US bill to establish a market structure for digital assets, should not be written to target any specific individual. The remarks come as Democrats push to include public-official ethics provisions in the legislation, a move seen as aimed at pressuring President Donald Trump.
Lummis, a Wyoming Republican, told Bitcoin News on July 15 that Congress is working with the White House on digital-asset ethics rules designed to remain valid over time. Those rules should not be aimed at Trump's digital-asset holdings, she said.
She added that lawmakers are also considering the use of a blind trust to prevent conflicts of interest related to digital-asset holdings by public officials. Under such a system, an official places personal assets under the control of an independent trustee and does not take part in their management.
