DTCC Starts Tokenization Project for Microsoft, SPY, US Treasuries With BlackRock, JPMorgan

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corp. is starting a project to tokenize financial assets including Microsoft, the S&P 500 and US Treasuries.

The Wall Street Journal reported on July 15 that DTCC is working with about 40 financial institutions, including BlackRock, Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase, on ways to use tokenized assets in financial transactions.

Assets targeted for tokenization include shares of Microsoft and Circle, the Invesco QQQ ETF, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust, the iShares 0-3 Month Treasury Bond ETF and US Treasuries.

Participating firms plan to use the tokenized assets for collateral transfers, repurchase agreement, or repo, transactions and stock trading.

DTCC previously announced that it would work with the Stellar Development Foundation to link a tokenized securities platform to the Stellar (XLM) network in the first half of 2027.
