The US military has launched a new round of airstrikes aimed at weakening Iran's military capabilities used to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

US Central Command said on July 20 that the strikes began at 4 p.m. under the direction of President Donald Trump, the commander in chief. That was 5 a.m. in South Korea on July 21.

The strikes are intended to further weaken Iran's military capabilities used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, Central Command said.
