Patrick Witt, executive director of the White House Digital Asset Advisory Council, will remain in his post after his military training was postponed, allowing him to continue work on digital-asset policy and legislation related to the CLARITY Act.
In a post on X on July 20, Witt wrote that he had spent the past year working to pass the CLARITY Act as part of President Donald Trump’s vision of making the US the world’s crypto capital.
Witt had been scheduled to take leave for several months starting later this month for mandatory military training tied to his service with the Georgia Army National Guard, ahead of the bill’s expected consideration on the Senate floor.
With the training delayed, he will continue his policy work at the White House for now.
“My commitment to fulfill my service obligation has not changed, but the training schedule was postponed, allowing me to see this work through to the end,” Witt wrote.
He also thanked Trump and David Sacks, the White House crypto and artificial intelligence czar, for giving him the opportunity to continue the work, adding: “Let’s finish the job.”
