Cointelegraph reported on July 20 that LSE is building a night trading platform separate from its daytime market. The platform will operate from 5 p.m. to 7:50 a.m. London time the following day. It will initially offer exchange-traded products tied to the U.K. and U.S. stock markets. The daytime market will continue to operate from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
LSE Chief Executive Officer Julia Hoggett told the Financial Times that retail demand is growing for access not only to U.K. assets but also to global assets because of London's time-zone position.
The move would align LSE with global exchanges that have introduced or are preparing near-24-hour trading services.
