Crypto exchange Gemini donated $10 million in Bitcoin to MAGA Inc., a super PAC backing President Donald Trump, shortly after jointly asking a federal court to withdraw a settlement with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
Cointelegraph reported on July 23 that MAGA Inc.'s July filing with the Federal Election Commission showed Gemini made two Bitcoin donations of more than $5 million each on June 19.
The donation came about three weeks after the CFTC and Gemini jointly filed a motion in federal court to withdraw the settlement. At the time, CFTC Commissioner Summer K. Mersinger said the Biden administration had politically targeted Gemini founders Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss.
Gemini has backed Trump before. During the 2024 presidential election, the Winklevoss twins each donated $1 million to Trump's campaign. They also gave $21 million in Bitcoin to the Digital Freedom Fund super PAC to support crypto policy.
