BitMEX, a cryptocurrency derivatives exchange, is set to delist 65 trading products in July alone ahead of the full closure of its services in September.
Cointelegraph reported on July 24 that BitMEX first removed 21 derivatives contracts in early July. Two weeks later, it delisted nine spot trading pairs, citing a lack of trading demand. On July 24, it added another 35 derivatives contracts to its pending delisting list, bringing the cumulative number of delistings in July to 65.
In a statement, BitMEX said it chose to delist the contracts because demand was not sufficient and the exchange had decided to shut down.
BitMEX also announced on July 24 that it will fully terminate exchange services at 4 a.m. UTC on Sept. 23. It said only that the decision followed a strategic review of its overall business and the cryptocurrency industry.
