Nasdaq Turns Lower as Chip Stocks Slide; SK Hynix ADR Falls 7%

The Nasdaq turned lower after a sharp intraday drop.
As of 11:48 p.m. on July 27, the index was down 0.55% from the previous close at 24,839.37, according to Yahoo Finance.
The decline came as major components fell sharply, led by semiconductor stocks.
Nvidia, the sector bellwether, was down 3.88% from the previous session at $198.85 at that time. Other chip stocks also weakened, with SK Hynix ADRs down 7.01%, Micron Technology off 4.99% and Advanced Micro Devices falling 6.45%.
By contrast, most Magnificent Seven stocks excluding Nvidia were higher. Apple rose 1.4% from the previous close, while Microsoft gained 2.09%, Amazon added 0.52%, Alphabet climbed 2.46% and Meta advanced 1.32%. Tesla, however, fell 1.3% to $308.89.
