Visa outlined an investment strategy spanning the stablecoin ecosystem.

Cointelegraph reported on July 28 that the global payments company detailed its stablecoin investments and future plans during its third-quarter earnings conference call. Third-quarter revenue increased 14% from a year earlier to $11.6 billion. Payment volume, cross-border volume and processed transactions all posted double-digit growth.

On the call, Visa said it is investing across every layer of the stablecoin stack, including blockchain, issuance, wallets, infrastructure, orchestration and applications. It added that it made progress this quarter in the issuance and application layers.

The company has joined the Open Standard Consortium, which is pursuing the issuance of the OpenUSD stablecoin for global money movement. Visa said its stablecoin platform is designed to allow partners to settle with Visa in stablecoins, use on-chain wallet-service infrastructure and move funds between fiat currencies and stablecoins. It also plans to integrate with payment infrastructure company Pismo to support tokenized deposits for financial institutions.

Visa also identified artificial intelligence as a long-term growth driver alongside stablecoins. While stablecoins are reshaping the back end of commerce, AI is changing the front end, the company said. AI agent-based commerce will expand Visa's market opportunity and drive future growth.
