Strategy has paused Bitcoin purchases, but that does not mark a change in its long-term accumulation strategy, according to a CryptoQuant analysis.

CryptoQuant contributor XWIN Japan wrote on July 28 that Strategy did not buy additional Bitcoin between July 20 and July 26. Over the same period, the company sold 5.43 million MSTR shares to raise about $544.5 million and repurchased $25 million of STRC preferred stock.

Because Strategy is one of the world's largest corporate Bitcoin holders, the pause could be read by the market as a bearish signal, XWIN Japan said. The company's steady Bitcoin buying has been a supporting factor for market sentiment.

Still, Strategy did not sell any of its Bitcoin holdings. Its position remained unchanged at 843,775 BTC, with an average purchase price of $75,476.

Its cash position also expanded. Strategy's dollar holdings rose to $3.75 billion, giving it capacity to buy more Bitcoin depending on market conditions. The company has previously raised money in the stock and bond markets and used the proceeds to purchase Bitcoin.

"This pause in purchases is a tactical lull, not a change in Strategy's long-term Bitcoin strategy," XWIN Japan wrote. The larger cash balance signals that the company is preparing for its next move rather than stepping away from Bitcoin.

The analysis added that investors should pay less attention to the short-term gap in purchases and focus instead on whether Strategy maintains its approach of accumulating Bitcoin as a long-term treasury asset.
