Ethereum Foundation Adds Security Researcher Pascal Caversaccio to Board in Privacy Push

The Ethereum Foundation has appointed Pascal Caversaccio, co-founder of crypto security response group SEAL 911, to its board as it deepens its focus on privacy and security.

Cointelegraph reported on July 30 that Caversaccio will serve an initial one-year term in a voluntary capacity. The Ethereum Foundation’s board now has four members: Executive Director Aya Miyaguchi, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, Swiss legal counsel Patrick Storchenegger and Caversaccio.

Caversaccio is a co-founder and lead of SEAL 911, an on-chain security emergency response group, and has long contributed to the Ethereum ecosystem. He is also a member of the Silviculture Society, an informal advisory group within the foundation focused on censorship resistance, open-source development, privacy and security. He wrote the “Ethereum Cypherpunk Manifesto” in 2024 and “Ethereum Privacy: The Path to Self-Sovereignty” in 2025.

The Ethereum Foundation’s board sets the organization’s vision and oversees whether management’s strategy and decisions align with its values. The foundation describes the board as a “security council” responsible for protecting its mission as a Swiss foundation and ensuring legal compliance.

The appointment comes as the foundation makes privacy and security central to its organizational strategy. In June, it described the two values as “non-negotiable protocol guarantees” and said it was working to turn Layer 1 privacy and quantum-resistant security research into changes to the Ethereum protocol.
