Robinhood Chain, which launched last month and drew strong industry attention, succeeded in drawing early liquidity through memecoins, but it remains unclear whether that will translate into gains in tokenized stocks, according to a new analysis.

BitPlanet Research Lab, a research institute under digital-asset treasury company BitPlanet, published an industry report on August 5 titled "Can Tokenized Stocks Be Built on Liquidity Created by Memecoins?"

The report analyzed about four weeks of data following Robinhood Chain's launch.

BitPlanet Research Lab found that most of Robinhood Chain's growth was driven by memecoins, while the tokenized stock segment is still developing.

"Robinhood Chain's early trading volume and application fees were driven by memecoin trading," the report said. "Tokenized stock trading on the chain has increased recently, but no clear causal relationship has been confirmed between memecoin liquidity and tokenization."

The report added that Robinhood Chain's rapid growth was supported by early incentives. It said the period after gas-fee subsidies end in late September will be the key test of whether trading and user activity can be sustained.

Still, it assessed Robinhood's strategy positively and said South Korea should take note. "Robinhood showed that securing liquidity is possible even before institutional rules are in place," the report said. "For South Korea's tokenized securities market, which is set to take effect in 2027, the key question will be what underlying assets and distribution structure it can accommodate."
