Iranian and Omani negotiators have drafted an agreement on the Strait of Hormuz, according to a report.

Odaily, citing the Associated Press on August 5, reported that the two sides had reached a draft agreement and are awaiting final approval from Iran’s supreme leader.

People familiar with the talks described the proposal as a temporary solution to ease tensions between the US and Iran over maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

The draft was based on an agreement the US and Iran pursued in June to end the dispute and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. That agreement was ultimately not implemented, the report said.
