The founder of nonfungible token platform Few and Far has been charged by US prosecutors.

The US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York said Aug. 5 that it charged Few and Far founder Taj Tasha with securities fraud and wire fraud.

Prosecutors allege that Tasha misled investors to raise money from 2022 for the development of Few and Far’s NFT marketplace and its FAR token. Investigators found that he raised more than $10 million from at least 67 investors.

Tasha later misappropriated the funds for online casino gambling and digital-asset investments.

Prosecutors said an audit in June 2023 uncovered the misuse of funds. They allege that Tasha nevertheless falsely told investors all of the money had been used for the company and would continue to be used to develop the project.

The FAR token launched in May 2024, but failed to hold its value and trading was suspended soon afterward.
