The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission canceled a public meeting that had been scheduled to discuss a new regulatory proposal for digital assets.
Cointelegraph reported on August 14 that the SEC had canceled the meeting planned for that day. The agenda included discussion of a separate securities issuance framework for investment contracts tied to certain digital assets.
The SEC told Reuters that the meeting was postponed because of "unexpected scheduling issues." It did not provide a new date.
SEC Chairman Paul Atkins told CNBC on July 27 that the agency was prepared to craft its own digital-asset rules if the Senate does not pass the Clarity Act.
