Online businesses across the euro area are barely accepting digital assets as a form of payment, a survey showed.
Cointelegraph reported on August 14, citing a European Central Bank survey on business cash usage, that just 0.2% of online businesses in the eurozone accept digital assets for payments.
The survey covered 8,205 businesses across 21 euro-area countries, including retailers, restaurants and cafes, hotels, and cultural and entertainment companies. It was conducted from February 23 to April 10.
Cash remained the most common payment method for offline businesses. Among companies operating physical stores, 92% said they accept cash, up 2 percentage points from 90% in 2024.
By contrast, acceptance of digital-asset payments, including stablecoins, remained below 1% in both 2024 and this year.
