Tether, the issuer of the world’s largest stablecoin, USDT, has formally outlined plans to expand its business.
Paolo Ardoino, Tether’s chief executive officer, said in a recent interview that the company has not considered itself a digital-asset business for some time, Bitcoin.com reported on Aug. 18. Instead, Tether sees itself as a digital dollar company and a digital gold company.
Tether plans to enter the artificial intelligence business. It aims to target emerging markets such as Africa and South America with lightweight AI services.
Ardoino said unequal access to AI could further widen existing economic gaps. The company will focus on delivering practical AI services that can run on ordinary smartphones, he added.
