Kospi Closes at 6,788.88, Down 1.79%

The Kospi closed below the 6,800 mark on weakness in heavyweight stocks.

On Aug. 28, the benchmark index ended at 6,788.88, down 123.49 points, or 1.79%, from the previous session.

Large semiconductor stocks led the decline. Samsung Electronics fell 3.38% and SK Hynix dropped 4.45%. Samsung Electronics preferred shares lost 3.86%, while SK Square slipped 3.75%.
