A total of 240 investors in the UK reported more than £1 million each in capital gains from digital-asset investments. Together, they accounted for more than half of all reported capital gains from digital assets.

HM Revenue & Customs said on August 28 in capital gains tax data for the 2024-2025 fiscal year that 17,600 individuals reported disposals of digital assets. Their combined capital gains totaled £1.38 billion.

Among them, 240 people each reported capital gains of more than £1 million. While they made up less than 2% of all filers, their combined gains reached £717 million, or more than half of the total.

Digital-asset investors were also younger than taxpayers reporting capital gains on other assets.

Among all digital-asset filers, 54% were between 25 and 44 years old, and 81% were 54 or younger. Investors aged 25 to 44 accounted for 71% of total disposal value, but 45% of total capital gains.
