Kalshi has partnered with the United States Tennis Association to become the exclusive prediction-market platform partner of the US Open.

Front Office Sports reported on Aug. 30 that Kalshi signed an official prediction-market platform partnership agreement with the USTA and the US Open. The deal is effective immediately, and financial terms were not disclosed.

The agreement was reached quickly ahead of the tournament's start. The USTA had originally planned to consider a partnership with a prediction-market company after 2027, but Craig Tiley, who became the USTA's chief executive officer in July, played a leading role in launching the partnership for this year's tournament, Front Office Sports reported.

The deal also includes exclusive advertising rights for Kalshi. The USTA plans to restrict other prediction-market platforms from advertising both at US Open venues and during ESPN's tournament broadcasts.

Prediction-market companies including Kalshi have recently expanded aggressively into sports. Kalshi and Polymarket are both official partners of the National Hockey League, while Kalshi has also signed partnerships with Major League Baseball teams including the Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants.

Sports-related contracts have become a key driver of prediction-market trading volume. Data from The Block showed combined trading volume this month for Kalshi, Polymarket and PolymarketUS reached $41.2 billion, with Kalshi accounting for $33.7 billion.

Regulatory uncertainty around sports event contracts remains. Kalshi is engaged in legal disputes with regulators in several states over whether state gambling laws can be applied to sports event contracts overseen by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

In a recent case involving Nevada, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Kalshi had not sufficiently shown that federal commodities law preempts the state's gambling regulations on sports event contracts. That diverged from an earlier ruling by the Third U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that barred New Jersey from regulating Kalshi's sports contracts, keeping alive the dispute over whether federal or state authorities have jurisdiction over prediction markets.
