A Solana-based cat-themed memecoin, Anonymous Cat (ZCAT), has distributed about $2.8 million worth of Zcash (ZEC) to token holders.
CoinDesk reported on September 7 that ZCat charges a 3% fee whenever the token is traded or transferred. Most of the fee is converted into Zcash and distributed to wallets holding more than $20 worth of ZCat.
Rewards paid out so far total more than 2,320 ZEC, worth about $2.8 million as of that day. The cumulative number of payouts has topped 470,000.
A recent surge in Zcash has sharply boosted the value of those rewards. Zcash has risen 2,300% over the past year and hit a fresh all-time high of $1,200 the previous day.
