Solana to More Than Triple Per-Transaction Data Capacity

Solana (SOL) plans to more than triple the amount of data a single transaction can carry, a change that would let complex transactions that previously had to be split across multiple steps be executed at once.
CoinDesk reported on September 7 that Solana is set to activate its Transaction v1 feature on September 9, increasing the maximum data size per transaction to 4,096 bytes from 1,232 bytes.
Once the upgrade is in place, data-heavy tasks such as large cryptographic proofs, multisignature transactions requiring multiple approvals, and some confidential transfers can be handled in a single transaction. Previously, those operations had to be divided into multiple transactions because of size limits.
The change is being pushed through SIMD-0296 and SIMD-0385.
