Reform UK, Backed by Digital-Asset Donors, Raises $97 Million in a Day for Record Haul

Reform UK, a pro-digital-asset party in Britain, has received the largest single-day political donation haul in the country’s history. Support from heavyweight figures in the digital-asset industry played a major role.

Bloomberg reported on September 12 that Reform UK raised a total of 72 million pounds ($97 million) over the past 24 hours. That is the biggest amount ever raised by a British political party in a single day.

The fundraising was driven by figures from the digital-asset industry. After BitMEX co-founder Ben Delo donated 36 million pounds the previous day, Christopher Harborne, Reform UK’s largest donor, said he would contribute the same amount again. Harborne is known as a major shareholder in Tether, the issuer of USDT.

Bloomberg said the latest fundraising total far exceeded the amounts raised this year by the Labour Party and the Conservative Party.

Reform UK has long maintained a policy stance favorable to the digital-asset industry. Party leader Nigel Farage has argued that Britain should be developed into a major hub for the sector, while also pushing for looser digital-asset regulations and industry support.

Delo said the donation should allow Reform UK to spend less time raising money to compete on equal terms with other parties and more time preparing for government. Developing policy and drafting legislation require both time and meaningful financial resources, he added.
