Shinhan Asset Management Gets Final Approval to Serve as Canton Network Super Validator in South Korea

Shinhan Asset Management said Sept. 14 that it had received final approval to serve as a Super Validator in South Korea under the Canton Network's governance process.

A Super Validator is a core node on the Canton Network that supports the network's stable operation and participates in decision-making on major policies and operational direction. Shinhan Asset Management signed a memorandum of understanding with the Canton Foundation in June to participate in governance and has since discussed the specific terms of its participation.

The approval does not mean the firm will immediately begin official activities on the Canton Network.

For now, it plans to focus on developing its own tokenization technology and conducting proof-of-concept work until South Korea establishes laws and subordinate regulations related to tokenized securities, along with detailed guidelines from financial authorities. Once the framework is in place, it plans to begin network activities in stages within the permitted scope.

The Canton Network is an institutional blockchain built to support asset tokenization and on-chain transactions for financial institutions.
