Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to Attend Trump-Xi State Dinner as AI, Chip Issues Take Center Stage

Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang is set to attend a state dinner next week hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump for Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Bloomberg reported on September 15 that Huang was invited to the dinner as part of a visit to Washington. The official guest list has not yet been released, and Nvidia declined to comment.

Huang and Trump have recently found common ground on artificial intelligence policy. During an event this week, Huang spoke by phone with Trump and pushed back against arguments that the pace of AI development should be slowed.

Both men have emphasized that there is no need to slow AI and data-center development. Huang has also recently argued that voluntary responses by companies and the market are more important than new laws or regulations aimed at AI safety.

The Trump administration has also eased restrictions on some Nvidia semiconductor exports to China that had been imposed on national security grounds. Still, the products currently allowed for sale in China are limited to older-generation processors, and actual shipment volumes are understood to be relatively small.

The dinner comes as the U.S. and China continue to face tensions over AI, trade and the Middle East. With Nvidia's China business and exports of AI semiconductors emerging as core issues in the U.S.-China technology rivalry, Huang's attendance is drawing heightened attention.
