MultiversX (EGLD) said it temporarily halted network operations after detecting an attempt to exploit a vulnerability.

On Sept. 20, the project said on its official X account, formerly Twitter, that it had identified a hacker attempting to exploit a network vulnerability. That process caused invalid state changes, it said, and the network was halted to prevent further impact.

A day earlier, MultiversX said it had detected a potential issue on its mainnet and begun an investigation.

The project urged users not to take any separate action and to wait for an announcement that the network had returned to normal. It also asked users not to initiate new transactions or resubmit transactions, and to refrain from token deposits and withdrawals through exchanges and bridges.

As of 10 a.m. on Sept. 20, MultiversX was trading at 6,840 won ($4.94) on Bithumb, down 16.89% from a day earlier.
