Amazon Web Services is hiring specialists to support South Korean banks, securities firms and other financial companies pursuing real-world asset, or RWA, tokenization and digital-asset businesses.
Digital Asset reported on September 22 that AWS Korea is recruiting for an Industry Specialist, Capital Markets and Banking role based in Seoul.
The successful candidate will join AWS’s Asia Pacific and Japan financial services industry organization and cover domestic exchanges, securities firms, broker-dealers, asset managers, hedge funds, wealth management firms and banks.
The role includes working with digital-asset teams at South Korean financial institutions to apply Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, blockchain and distributed ledger technology, or DLT, to capital-markets and banking operations.
AWS cited a specific use case for the position: conducting workshops with banks’ digital-asset teams to design platforms for tokenizing RWAs such as bonds and real estate using AWS services.
Supporting the build-out of security-token platforms is also part of the job. If a client moves to launch such a platform, the hire would work with AWS solutions architects to design a regulatory-compliant system architecture covering cryptography, key management and tokenization infrastructure.
Preferred qualifications for the role explicitly include digital-asset experience. AWS prefers candidates with experience in tokenization, digital assets, security token offerings, or STOs, and blockchain or DLT applications in finance. It also requires an understanding of South Korea’s regulatory environment, including the Financial Services Commission, the Financial Supervisory Service and the Korea Internet & Security Agency, or KISA.
The hiring does not mean AWS is launching an RWA or digital-asset service in South Korea. For now, the company is seeking specialists who can identify business opportunities in tokenization and digital assets for financial institutions and help apply AWS infrastructure.
