Trump Rejects Iran’s ‘Hormuz Peace Plan’; Sees Bombing Resuming After November Midterms, WSJ Reports

President Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s proposed “Hormuz peace plan,” the Wall Street Journal reported. The newspaper also said Trump has told aides bombing of Iran could resume after the U.S. midterm elections in November.

The Journal, citing U.S. officials, reported on Sept. 26 that Trump declined to accept Iran’s ceasefire proposal. He told aides he expects strikes on Iran could resume after the November midterms.

Iran had earlier proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz within seven days and halting fighting in the region if the U.S. accepted conditions including an end to hostile actions. The proposal also included resuming nuclear talks.

According to the Journal, Trump is skeptical that Iran would comply with U.S. demands related to its nuclear program. Iran, for its part, is still awaiting an official U.S. response.
