Digital-asset financial infrastructure firm Sooho.io said on Sept. 30 that it hosted the Seoul Digital Money Summit, or SDMS, and unveiled a strategy to connect with global financial networks.

The event was attended by South Korean and overseas financial and digital-asset industry participants, including KB Securities, NH Investment & Securities, Meritz Securities, global settlement network Partior, Ondo Finance, Tiger Research and Allium Labs.

Participants discussed corporate use of digital assets, cross-border payment and settlement based on deposit tokens, and tokenized stocks.

Sooho.io also introduced SOOHO PartnerHub, a digital-asset financial infrastructure platform for corporate clients. The service is designed to let companies use trading, treasury and other services in a single environment, without having to connect separately to multiple digital-asset providers. It plans to add payment and remittance functions later.

Sooho.io said demand from companies to use digital assets is already emerging in actual transactions. Some South Korean companies are being asked by overseas counterparties to conduct transactions using digital assets such as Tether's USDT and Circle's USDC, it said. The company added that putting such arrangements into practice remains difficult because firms must set up wallets and accounts and connect directly to multiple service providers.

Sooho.io said it plans to link PartnerHub to global financial infrastructure as well. Through a recent memorandum of understanding with Partior, it aims to establish a framework for South Korean financial institutions to connect to global payment and settlement networks using deposit tokens. As a mid- to long-term plan, it also presented the idea of using deposit tokens as reserve assets for a won-denominated stablecoin.

Chief Executive Officer Park Ji-soo said companies are not seeking a new form of finance, but rather a way to receive transaction proceeds and use them for the next deal. Sooho.io will connect the financial services needed so digital assets can be used in the same way companies manage their regular funds, then expand that model to South Korean financial institutions and global financial networks, he added.
