Aptos Unveils 'MonoMove' Blockchain Upgrade for Institutional Finance
Forecast Trend Report by Period

Aptos Labs, the company behind Aptos (APT), said on October 7 that it had unveiled an infrastructure upgrade called MonoMove to help global financial institutions build blockchain-based trading and settlement systems.
MonoMove is an upgrade proposal for the execution engine that runs smart contracts on the blockchain, developed for financial institutions. It is focused on adding capabilities institutions need, including large-scale payment settlement, real-time order execution and collateral valuation. The upgrade also adds redundant checks to ensure asset-protection rules remain in place even if failures occur in parts of the system such as validators or the virtual machine.
Aptos Labs said MonoMove testing showed a sharp improvement in processing performance over the existing execution engine. In tests using on-chain exchange Decibel, collateral withdrawal speeds were up to 55 times faster and order intake speeds were up to 22 times faster. In separate internal performance tests, the company said total throughput was as much as 11 times higher than the existing engine when only MonoMove was applied, with no additional optimization.
Aptos Labs is also carrying out stability testing for MonoMove. The company said it is running fuzz testing, which uses a wide range of inputs to identify errors. It also plans to apply formal verification to core components, using mathematical methods to confirm the accuracy of system behavior.
"Institutions do not build markets on infrastructure that cannot keep up with demand, nor do they entrust client assets to infrastructure that is unreliable," Aptos Labs co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Avery Ching said. He added that the execution-engine upgrade proposal could help achieve both goals.
