Hong Kong Virtual-Asset Trading Fee Revenue Falls 13.5% in First Half

Fee income from virtual-asset trading at Hong Kong securities firms fell in the first half of this year.
Odaily reported on October 8 that the Securities and Futures Commission said in a report on the financial position of the securities industry that virtual-asset trading fee income totaled HK$99.3 million in the first half. That was down HK$15.5 million, or 13.5%, from HK$114.8 million in the second half of last year.
By contrast, net profit across Hong Kong’s securities industry rose 21% from the previous period to HK$51.7 billion. The combined total of net commission income and interest income from securities, futures, options, leveraged foreign exchange and virtual-asset trading also increased 13% to HK$45.4 billion from HK$40.1 billion.
