Global crypto exchange Bybit is seeking to transform itself into a broader trading platform that goes beyond digital assets to offer stocks, foreign exchange and commodities.
BlockBeats reported on October 13 that Bybit Chief Executive Officer Ben Zhou said at an event the same day that the company aims to build a platform where anyone can trade a wide range of assets globally and access international financial markets.
Bybit’s traditional finance, or TradFi, trading service currently offers more than 500 products, including oil, foreign exchange, commodities, the Nasdaq index and contracts for difference tied to individual stocks.
Bybit also entered the pre-IPO share market in June. It plans to offer trading in newly listed stocks before their formal market debut when market interest is high.
Bybit is also expanding its tokenized stock business. Zhou said the company plans to introduce mStocks, a tokenized stock product in partnership with Mantle (MNT). The product will be backed one-for-one by real-world assets and support 24-hour asset swaps and trading on decentralized exchanges, or DEXs.
“Bybit should not remain a simple crypto trading platform,” Zhou said. He added that the company will expand into a broader range of assets, including traditional finance products, so users can participate in multiple financial markets at any time.
