Mastercard has launched a payments platform that integrates the management of fiat currency and stablecoins.

Metaverse Post reported on Oct. 16 that Mastercard unveiled the Global Money Platform with BVNK. BVNK is a stablecoin infrastructure company that Mastercard acquired in August.

The Global Money Platform allows users to hold fiat currency and stablecoins and exchange them in real time. Businesses will be able to use it for multicurrency account management, stablecoin-linked card issuance, cross-border remittances and payments.

Mastercard plans to support payments in more than 40 currencies across more than 200 countries and territories by 2027. It also plans to expand card issuance services to more than 130 countries.

The company plans to broaden the platform's scope to include autonomous payments by artificial intelligence agents and tokenized deposits.
