A super PAC backing U.S. President Donald Trump has spent $277 million to support Republican candidates ahead of the November midterm elections.

Bloomberg reported on October 21 that MAGA Inc., a super PAC tied to Trump, spent a total of $277 million from early September through October 14 to back Republican House and Senate candidates. It raised another $25 million over the same period.

Federal Election Commission filings show MAGA Inc. spent $33.8 million directly on Republican candidates and transferred $225 million to allied super PACs No Going Back PAC and Safety and Affordability PAC. Those two groups together spent $208 million supporting Republican candidates.

MAGA Inc. has raised a total of $449 million since launching two days after Trump's re-election victory. Major donors included casino billionaire Steve Wynn, Blackstone co-founder Stephen Schwarzman and billionaire Diane Hendricks. Three super PACs tied to Republicans, Trump and Republican congressional leaders have raised a combined $2.1 billion, far surpassing the Democrats' $1.3 billion. Still, House Majority PAC, which backs Democratic efforts to win control of the House, has yet to file its September fundraising results.

By race, at least $1 million was spent in each of eight Senate contests. The largest amount, $36 million, went to the Texas Senate race between Democratic Texas state Rep. James Talarico and Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. In House races, at least $1 million was spent in each of at least 33 districts, with $7.9 million concentrated in Florida's 25th Congressional District.

Despite Republicans' fundraising advantage, the election outlook remains challenging. Voter frustration over the cost of living has weakened Trump's approval rating. Democrats are considered well positioned to retake the House, where Republicans hold only a narrow majority. In the Senate, they are also seen as having a chance to regain control as races tighten in some Republican-leaning areas.

Trump wrote on Truth Social on October 20 that he would spend more than $400 million to deliver a Republican victory in the midterms. He also said $300 million had already been spent. Earlier, MAGA Inc. had stirred concern among Republicans over how it was using its funds after spending just 0.6% of the money it had raised on candidate support through the end of June this year.
