Hong Kong has named Nasdaq-listed Solana Company a strategic enterprise, stepping up support for the blockchain infrastructure industry.

Cointelegraph reported on October 26 that Solana Company had been included in the seventh batch of companies selected for a support program run by OASES, the Hong Kong government office dedicated to attracting strategic enterprises. It is the only blockchain infrastructure company chosen for the program this year.

Hong Kong on October 22 designated 18 companies, including Solana Company, as new strategic enterprises. That brought the total number of participating companies to 142. The city runs the program to attract global companies that can contribute to economic growth.

The designation will provide Solana Company with administrative support for its local expansion. It will have a unified communication channel with government agencies and regulators. The company will also receive help with hiring overseas specialists and opportunities to collaborate with local institutional investors and business partners.

Solana Company operates staking and validator infrastructure for the Solana network. It also runs an advisory business that supports financial institutions adopting blockchain technology and holds Solana as part of its digital-asset treasury strategy.

The company plans to use Hong Kong as a base to expand its blockchain infrastructure business across the Asia-Pacific region. In particular, it plans to build validator operating infrastructure in Hong Kong through its Pacific Backbone project, which is designed to minimize latency across blockchain networks in the region.
