Bithumb said on Oct. 26 that it had concluded its first in-house contest, titled "AI Kkul-Tip It-Thumb?," aimed at strengthening employees' artificial intelligence capabilities.

The event was designed to allow employees to share AI technologies they had applied in their work and spread strong use cases across the organization. The contest ran from Aug. 17 to Aug. 31, with 110 employees participating and submitting a total of 107 ideas.

Bithumb selected 13 entries through a document screening process and then held two rounds of presentation judging. In the final round, seven judges selected the winners after assessing factors including the use of AI technology and its organizational impact.

The top prize went to Go Ju-ho, a team manager in the IT division. Go developed a system that allows users to monitor token consumption and cache efficiency in real time for the AI coding tool Claude Code. It received high marks for helping employees choose AI models efficiently based on the nature of their work and reduce operating costs.

Second place went to an "AI-based SRE incident response automation platform" developed by Eom Seong-ryeol, a manager in the IT division. The system automates repetitive tasks performed during service disruptions, allowing staff to focus on analyzing the cause of the outage and restoring service.

Five entries were selected for third place: "MCP Server Centralization," which integrates the company's internal AI-use infrastructure; a monitoring system that analyzes information leakage risks; a tool for advance review of advertising content; automated trading-strategy verification; and a blockchain network upgrade monitoring system. In addition, six entries applying AI to security monitoring and vulnerability analysis received fourth-place awards.

Prize money was set at $7,200 for first place, $3,600 for second place, $2,160 each for third place and $360 each for fourth place. The remaining participants will receive gift certificates worth about $72.

A Bithumb official said the contest confirmed that efforts to use AI can help plant "AI DNA" across the organization and drive positive change. The company plans to expand related infrastructure and continue fostering an internal culture of innovation so employees can actively use AI across a wider range of work areas and deliver new results, the official added.
