Dunamu, the operator of digital-asset exchange Upbit, said on October 26 that it had successfully concluded its youth financial education event, the “Upclass Junior Quiz Competition.”

The competition was held for students participating in Dunamu’s “Upclass Junior” youth financial education program to review financial and economic knowledge through quizzes. It ran for about seven weeks from May 18 to July 3, with 2,603 students from 58 schools across the country taking part.

Dunamu selected four schools as outstanding performers based on a combined assessment of each school’s average score, number of participants and participation rate. The schools were Incheon Jeonggak Middle School, Geoseong Middle School, Naechon Middle School and Yeonggwang Yeomsan Middle School.

The selected schools received snack trucks that could be used by the entire student body. At Naechon Middle School, students from a nearby elementary school were also able to use the snack truck.

Dunamu is also moving forward with a community donation initiative. The company set aside a total of 12 million won ($8,700), with 3 million won ($2,170) allocated in the name of each selected school. Students voted to determine the donation field from five categories: education, healthcare, care, housing and the environment.

“The ability of future generations to develop sound financial values and make independent judgments in a rapidly changing digital-finance environment is an important foundation for creating a healthy and sustainable financial ecosystem,” Dunamu Chief Executive Officer Oh Kyung-seok said. He added that the company would continue to expand education for future generations and its social contribution efforts so that financial education goes beyond the simple delivery of knowledge and leads to voluntary participation and the creation of social value.
